Australian fighter Robert Whittaker has been making a name for himself recently by climbing up the rankings of the UFC middleweight division by adding another head to his 7 fight win-streak. Robert broke into the top 10 following his win against Rafael Natal in April last year. He has since risen to rank #3; taking out big names like Derek Brunson (#8) and Ronaldo Souza (#5) on the way.
Prior to his recent victories, many thought that Whittaker couldn't keep up with the more highly ranked fighters in his division, having more than 2/1 odds against him in both of his most recent fights. But after beating the odds on multiple occasions, many are starting to see him as a real contender for the middleweight title.
Following his decisive victory against Ronaldo Souza last Sunday, Whittaker called out Michael Bisping; the current middleweight title-holder. Rob stated that he feels he's earned his shot at the title, and many agree, including Michael Bisping himself.
In a recent podcast, Bisping stated that he wants to fight Whittaker, as he feels the current #1 contender (Yoel Romero) doesn't deserve a shot due to his recent positive test for steroids and failure to beat Souza, whom Whittaker made easy work of.
