Eat your Veggies! The Importance of a Balanced Diet

Since you were young, you were always told by your parents to “eat your vegetables” as they are healthy and nutritious. Now as we have gotten older, many of us began to understand the importance of including vegetables in our day to day diets.

There are many health benefits that come along with having your daily intake of vegetables, such as:

  • Vital for health and maintenance of your body.
  • Low in fat and calories. None have cholesterol
  • May reduce risk for stroke, cancer, heart diseases and type-2 diabetes.
  • They are important for healthy blood pressure
  • Vitamin A and C can be found in a number of veggies which contribute to the health of eyes, skin
  • Fibre is another nutrient found in vegetables. It helps keep your digestive system running smoothly as well as control blood sugar levels.
  • Potassium is also found to be ower blood pressure, and may also reduce the risk of developing kidney stones and help to decrease bone loss.


Here is a list of some of the vegetables to include your day to day diet:

  • Broccoli
  • Carrot
  • Cauliflower
  • Brussell Sprouts
  • Green Beans
  • Capsicum
  • Spinach



I believe it is important to have vegetables included in your diet. I, myself, have 3-4 servings of vegetables daily and I think that is the perfect number of serving to consume throughout the day. I feel healthier, my body is functioning properly and I definitely recommend adding these delicious superfoods to your diet!
